Be Unapologetic

Be Unapologetic
August 01, 2017

August has crept up on us quickly and, while we’re not sure we like the thought of summer nearly coming to a close (say it ain’t so!), we’re ready to take charge this month with our August focus: Be Unapologetic.

So often as wedding professionals our job is to make others happy—we’re event pros, sure, but we’re also therapists and task-jugglers and family mediators to boot. While these roles are necessary (and oftentimes just par for the course) as wedding professionals, it’s important to not let the role of pleasing others swallow our own reasons, goals and drives—which is why I really love the idea of practicing being unapologetically you this month.

I love Cheryl Strayed’s words because they remind us to take charge—be it of our day, our business, or our overall life. Being confident, assertive and unapologetic is so important as a business owner and wedding professional—if our events are the ships, then we are the captains (and there’s no ship in the world that can sail properly without a captain who is willing to take charge). While collecting input from others and working collectively is key in our business, so too is recognizing those moments when we need to put our foot down, set something in stone, or simply say no (or yes for that matter). A successful business owner, after all, knows how to be both collaborative and independent—and, more importantly, knows which moments call for which approach.

All throughout August, then, we’ll be offering up tips, tricks and advice for being unapologetic as a business owner, leader and wedding professional this month. I encourage you to download today’s wallpaper and let it guide you and your decision-making process throughout the next four weeks.

Cheers, Aisle Planners, to practicing the art of being unapologetic this month!
