Your Best Year at Being Generous

Your Best Year at Being Generous
November 01, 2016

November brings us to yet another month and—believe it or not—our eleventh “theme” of the year. This month, we’re focusing our efforts on generosity, which, with the holidays and engagement season right around the corner, feels like perfect timing.

I love the idea of honing in on generosity throughout November, because, as the year comes to a close, chances are we are all pretty darn tired and in need of some well deserved hibernation time before planning season hits. Being generous, then (though it may feel counterintuitive), is a great way to recharge our batteries. Generosity toward others and—sometimes even more importantly—toward ourselves is such an effective way to refuel when we’re most in need of a pick-me-up.

I especially love today’s quote because it reminds us that generosity has nothing to do with our monetary capabilities. Oftentimes, we hear the word “generous” and we automatically associate it with money or the ability to give—gifts, donations, etc. But Picasso reminds us that generosity, above all else, can simply mean sharing our talents with others, which—surprise!—you’re likely already doing as a wedding pro. (You go, pros!)

All throughout November, rather than focusing on the common interpretation of generosity, we’re going to focus on being generous in ways you don’t often think about—generous with our clients when they drive us crazy, generous with our coworkers when they make mistakes, generous with ourselves when we’re feeling unworthy and, above all, generous when it comes to sharing our talents. Because, as today’s quote teaches us, few things in this world are more satisfying than finding your gift and giving it away. You’ll find that when you do, you tend to feel more full, more at peace and more satisfied than any other time in your life. So, cheers, Aisle Planners, to your best year yet in generosity!
